SOGON STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN (2013-2017)
The Strategic Development Plan (SDP) is grouped into six (6) thematic areas. Each of the thematic areas has one goal and three or four strategic objectives. In turn, each strategic objective has three or four interventions detailing how the strategic objectives will be achieved. Each intervention has three or four activities that will ensure the intervention is achieved.
1. Governance Including Leadership
To provide effective and accountable leadership and quality administration at national and sub-national levels in compliance with SOGON’s constitution.
2. Human Resource Development (Including Continuing Education for Professionals, Etc)
To create an enabling environment for professional development in sexual and reproductive health. SOGON as an accredited provider of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, will develop and implement continuing professional development (CPD) course that address the major causes of maternal and neonatal deaths; support pre-service institutions in the revision of curricula to ensure inclusion of evidence-based interventions as well as competency-based training for sexual and reproductive health.
3. Service Delivery
To promote access to and quality of sexual and reproductive healthcare in Nigeria. SOGON will set, disseminate and ensure compliance with performance standards for sexual and reproductive health; and work with the private sector to deploy the use of ICT in supportive supervision of OB-GYN services.
4. Finance and Business Development
To explore various organizational funding mechanisms to increase SOGON’s resource base.
5. Knowledge Management (Including Documentation and Monitoring & Evaluation)
To collate, analyze, warehouse and disseminate relevant and evidence-based information on sexual and reproductive health in the country.
6. Research, Innovation & Partnership
To promote research into relevant sexual and reproductive health problems in Nigeria and support innovative approaches to healthcare delivery in partnership with other stakeholders.
